Our Good Ingredients

Our perfumers use only safe and ethically responsible ingredients of the highest quality to craft our home fragrances. To this end our fragrances are a combination of man-made molecules, botanicals and essential oils. All our fragrances are cruelty-free, vegan and sustainably sourced. Below you will find more information on the ingredients we use and our rationale for our strict adherence to this ingredient policy.

Man-made vs. Botanicals and other Naturally-Derived ingredients

• It may not sound super sexy to say that we use primarily man-made molecules in our fragrances, but the fact of the matter is they are almost always, safer, healthier and/or better for the planet and more readily available than their 'naturally derived' counterparts.
• Man-made fragrance molecules are less likely to trigger allergic reactions or cause irritation due to their simplified molecular structure. They are also, by nature, completely sustainable. For example, natural musk requires a lethal extraction process from a musk deer, while natural sandalwood harvesting has nearly driven the tree to extinction.
• It should also be noted that 'botanical' or 'natural' does not necessarily mean 'good'. Dirty and dangerous naturals abound. It is very important that these ingredients be carefully sourced and processed and then only used in safe quantities.
• Lastly, not all the beautiful scents out in the world can be sourced from organic material. In fact, the botanical/natural palate is very limited compared to one which includes the thousands of man-made molecules available. Using both gives our perfumers the ultimate palate to work with when developing our unique fragrances.
